If your Audi wireless CarPlay won’t auto-connect, tapping manual connect does nothing, and you can only use CarPlay by plugging in a cable, the cause is often a “stuck” pairing profile inside the Audi MMI Smartphone Interface. The fix below clears the old profile and rebuilds the wireless handshake properly.
Before you reset: “Reset Network Settings” will erase saved Wi-Fi networks and passwords. Back up your Wi-Fi password(s) first.
Fix (MMI + iPhone network reset)
- MMI Settings → Connected devices
- Tap Smartphone interface
- Long-press on the screen (or the device entry) → Delete/Remove the existing phone connection option(s)
- On iPhone: Settings → General → Transfer or Reset iPhone → Reset → Reset Network Settings
- After the reset, pair again and set up wireless CarPlay from scratch
Tip: If you see multiple old entries, delete them all first. Then reconnect with only one iPhone nearby to reduce pairing conflicts.
If it still doesn’t work
- Power-cycle the car system (turn off ignition, open/close door, wait ~30 seconds, restart).
- On iPhone: Settings → General → CarPlay → select your Audi → Forget This Car, then re-pair.
- Update iOS to the latest stable version for your iPhone model.
